HEIF (High Efficiency Image Format) is a modern image container format developed by the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG). It's known for storing high-quality images at approximately half the size of equivalent JPEG files. HEIF is commonly used by Apple devices (with the .heic extension) and supports advanced features like image sequences, animations, and depth maps.
BMP (Bitmap Image File) is a raster graphics image file format used to store bitmap digital images. While BMP files are typically larger than compressed formats, they offer lossless storage, wide compatibility with virtually all image editors and viewers, and simple structure that makes them ideal for certain applications like print graphics, texture storage, and when working with legacy systems.
For the best results when converting HEIF to BMP, start with the highest quality HEIF file available. Use the quality slider at 85-95% for optimal balance between file size and image fidelity. Enable "Auto-enhance" to automatically improve contrast and sharpness during conversion.
